We had an after-Thanksgiving brunch with Grampa & Oma, The Runtes, & The Seidels a couple days after Thanksgiving. Noah was SO happy to see Grampa, and everyone loved seeing Baby Jackson. We didn't stay for long because this was the start of Jackson's tummy troubles, but it was special to all get together...especially getting the picture of all the grandkids.

The day before Thanksgiving my sweet sister Susie gave me a great gift! She brought her sweet boys by to meet Jackson for the 1st time. There has been a virus in Athens, and she wanted to make sure her boys weren't getting it before bringing them by for fear of getting Jackson sick. The boys were so sweet and cute. Then she took Noah to the zoo with his cousins Matthew & Nick Nick. It gave me time to cook and prepare for Thanksgiving which was a BIG HELP! Thank you, Susie, for being such a wonderful sister & friend! I don't know what I'd do without you!
Today is my mother's birthday. Oh, how I miss her. Oh, how I wish she could wrap her arms around my precious boys, run her fingers through Noah's curls, smell that sweet baby Jackson smell and hear his sweet baby sounds. Happy birthday Mom. I love you & miss you.

Today we celebrated our 1st Thanksgiving as a family of four. I was perfectly happy to go to Ft. Worth to have Thanksgiving with Michael's Mom & the Carliles but Michael was adament about not driving to Ft. Worth for such a quick visit. It's ironic...the day I told Michael that I was pregnant with Jackson, I remember saying, "Well, at least I'll have a good excuse not to cook for Thanksgiving." Well, that statement came back to bite me! I ended up cooking over 10 hours getting our first Thanksgiving as a family of 4 prepared. (I eventually decided that I'm a happier cook when I decide that I'm treating myself to a new pair of running shoes as my prize for cooking 3 weeks after giving birth!) Michael did a great job on the turkey and we had TWO types of dressing...my mother's traditional (northern) bread dressing and his mother's (southern) cornbread dressing. Both were delicious & I learned a lot. Needless to say, there are LOTS of leftovers! But this day is about giving thanks and being grateful for our many blessings: I'm so thankful for Michael, Noah, Jackson, and the opportunity to spend our first Thanksgiving as a family of four in our cozy home. I'm thankful that we are all healthy. I'm so thankful for our family and close friends. Happy Thanksgiving 2010

Today was a special day for Jackson! Aunt Denise brought his cousins Andrew, Ella, & James by today for their first introduction! Ella was SO eager to hold Baby Jackson, and she was extra sweet to try to bring him a blanket or take care of him in any way! Andrew was eager to hold him, too. It was fun to watch them all interact. I love that Jackson was smiling when Ella was holding him----so sweet! James wasn't interested in holding Jackson, but did say, "I'm bigger than babies." Hilarious. Noah had fun playing with his cousins, too! Big smiles for everyone. Denise called on their way home to tell me two funny things her kids said on the way home. James, who wasn't interested in the baby at all said, "I like Baby Jackson. He's cute." And Ella said, "Noah is a good dancer." Out of the mouths of babes.

Today was Noah's Thanksgiving Feast at Oak Tree Academy Preschool. I really wanted to go to the feast, but at the same time was concerned with bringing Jackson and that causing problems for Noah (as well as exposing Jackson to lots of germs so early!) Lucky for me, Martha kept Jackson so that I could go to surprise Noah. When I arrived and he saw me, Noah exclaimed, "I see Mommy! Mommy's here!" It was super sweet. Noah's class wore Indian hats with their names on them, and they joined in a feast with the neighboring class, who wore Pilgrim hats. They were so cute, and I'm so glad I made the effort to be there for my Indian Chief Noah. I'm so thankful for both my boys. I've I am truly so blessed.
I changed Jackson's diaper this morning and saw something fly out of the diaper...his umbilical cord! I don't know if that's something to document or not, but that was how our day started! I'm rather relieved...I like that I don't have to worry about that anymore!
