Jackson's 1st Race for the Cure

Today was Jackson's 1st Race for the Cure. What a special day----being able to celebrate survivors and remember those we've lost. My sweet Jackson was ever the trooper---smiling and being just his sweet, delicious self---how blessed I am to have two healthy, happy, boys. They are the best Mother's Day present...EVER!

Today was Jackson's 1st Race for the Cure. He was PERFECT! Even though it was past time for his nap, he hung in there like a real trooper. He is such a precious, precious little angel. What a perfect Mother's Day present...having my sweet Jackson & my sweet Noah---healthy, happy boys.

2011 Tyler Race for the Cure

2011 Race for the Cure- It was a perfect day for the 2011 Tyler Race for the Cure-

This year I served as the National Sponsor Liason for Komen Tyler. It's a lot of work and planning, but seeing it all come together is a great thing. I love that our family tradition is doing the Race for the Cure the day before Mother's Day. It's a great present!

Things to remember about this year's race:

Let's see---Oh, it was probably the 1st time that the mobile mammography bus was used as a lactation center. Thanks, Todd, by the way. Another highlight was seeing Antoinette Jackson (pictured as the survivor #59). I've always liked the name Jackson; but Antoinette is another reason why Jackson has his special name. Antoinette was diagnosed this past year for her 2nd round of breast cancer. She's a spicy Italian...and she has a sense of humor and zest for life that I find incredible. I thought to myself, as I was debating about names, and Jackson was in the top running..."Antoinette's last name is Jackson...I want my son to have that spice for life and that same vigor for enjoying life to the fullest." And there you have it. That sealed the deal. I love her lots. Another thing to remember about this year's race is Jackie, a new friend of mine that I met from the Komen committee. She's 33 and battling her 2nd round of breast cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer during her first pregnancy. Then was all clear and then when pregnant with TWINS, was diagnosed again with stage 4 breast cancer. She's incredible, and I'm just going to have to write a special post about her, because I find her inspiring!
Those were the big moments---always good to support my survivors...always a little wistful that my mom never got that pink hat. But such is life.

Paw Paw & Jackson

Paw Paw sure enjoyed spending time with Jackson during Michael's 39th birthday party. Jackson enjoyed Paw Paw, too!

Happy 39th Birthday Daddy

Happy 39th Birthday Daddy! This is Daddy's last birthday in the "30's," and his 1st birthday as a father of TWO SONS---Noah & Jackson! Wow, what a difference a year can make! Paw Paw, Granny Meg, and Sarah joined us in the celebration. We had pizza and Longhorn birthday cake! Lots of fun! Daddy said, "I'm done having birthdays now!" Silly Daddy! Happy 39th---You just keep getting better!

A thought about good friends

There are lots of crazy folks out there. I should know. I work in a mental hospital, with drug addicts, and with cancer. But there are also a lot of great folks out there, too. If you are lucky enough to find these great folks, cultivate these relationships...because they are the ones that provide a soft place to fall when you need it. Thanks T.S.

Jackson is 6 months old today!

Happy 6 months to sweet Jackson! Where does the time go? I love you dearly.
All my love,
Mommy

Weekend Projects

I hear that some people actually watch movies, eat out, and relax on the weekends. We know nothing of this at our house! We spent this weekend digging up sod, moving heavy rocks, pulling weeds, shoveling dirt, laying mulch, etc. etc. Noah did a great job and is already turning out to be quite the gardener!
